CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A Clarksville woman charged with killing her 7-month-old daughter is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in the coming week.

The Leaf-Chronicle reported (https://leafne.ws/1giXHT0 ) that 24-year-old Stefany Paige Johnson will go before a judge on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

Police say Johnson killed the child, Astrid Johnson, at their home on March 4.

Police say when questioned, Johnson said “Jesus came down and took Astrid to heaven” while she was bathing her. Police concluded Johnson’s negligence resulted in the child’s death.

Johnson’s arraignment had been postponed as she underwent a mental health evaluation at the Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute in Nashville.

Johnson has not been arraigned. Jail records do not list an attorney for her.
