LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities have identified the second young man killed after a pickup truck hit the back of a moped in Las Vegas and then fled the scene.
Clark County coroner’s officials say 20-year-old moped driver Nicholas Monday died after the crash early Tuesday morning on Las Vegas Boulevard north of Blue Diamond Road. Authorities had previously identified 21-year-old passenger Phillip Le Nguyen, who died at the scene.
Police say a 2008 Ford pickup was going fast when the vehicle hit the scooter while it was stopped at a stop light.
Officials say the truck driver kept going with the moped wedged underneath before hitting another car and abandoning the pickup about a half mile away. Police say they traced the registration to a home, but nobody answered the door.
