NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A New Orleans police officer was suspended without pay after he allegedly sped away from a traffic stop.

Police said Friday that Sgt. Charles Miller turned himself in to the Public Integrity Bureau Friday morning

Miller was pulled over Thursday night for speeding down U.S. Highway 90B and having no license plate on his truck. Police said that Miller at first complied with the officer who pulled him over, providing his license and registration. He then became agitated and injured the wrist of the officer while forcefully pulling his documents back.

Police said Miller then led the officer on a high speed chase. The pursuing officer ended the chase because of possible danger to others.

Miller was booked on numerous charges including speeding and battery on an officer.
