CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Cannon Brummage had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead Clay-Battelle to a 61-56 win over Greater Beckley Christian in the Class A quarterfinals on Thursday.

Clay-Battelle led 44-22 at the 3:27 mark of the third quarter before Greater Beckley Christian orchestrated a 28-6 run and tied the game at 50 on Jarrett Hockenberry’s two free throws.

Clay-Battelle took the lead for good after Tristan Haught’s layup with 40 seconds to go made it 58-56.



Haught finished with 12 points, while Hockenberry and Roush each had 11 for Clay-Battelle (21-5).

Elisha Kidd netted 24 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for Greater Beckley Christian (19-7).

Clay-Battelle advances to Friday’s semifinals against top-seeded Wheeling Central (21-3). Clay-Battelle’s last appearance in the state finals was 1996, in a 62-56 loss to Wheeling Central.
