BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Birmingham’s airport is marking the one-year anniversary of an accident that killed a child inside the terminal.
The Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport will have a moment of silence Saturday to observe the death last year of 10-year-old Luke Bresette of Kansas City.
A flight status board tipped over on the child in a newly opened section of the airport, killing him. The boy was traveling home with his family after a vacation trip to the Florida Panhandle.
An airport statement says a 30-second moment of silence will be held Saturday afternoon around the time of the accident last March 22.
WBRC-TV (https://bit.ly/1iHSK5r ) reports airport workers will also wear and distribute ribbon’s in the boy’s memory.
Luke’s family is now suing several companies that worked on signs during an airport renovation.
