GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama woman is seeking evidence from the grand jury that indicted her on a capital murder charge in the running death of her 9-year-old granddaughter.

Lawyers for Joyce Garrard are asking to examine the testimony of everyone who appeared before a grand jury in Gadsden.

Defense attorneys also want a judge to let them see the vote by which grand jurors decided to charge Garrard in the death of Savannah Hardin.

Prosecutors contend the 48-year-old Garrard made child to run for three hours as punishment for a lie. The girl collapsed and died three days later at a hospital.

Garrard says she is innocent, and her lawyers say the girl had health problems.

A hearing is set for April 4, and Garrard is scheduled for trial in June.
