NEW YORK (AP) - Police in New York City say a 25-year-old man has been killed after crashing an unregistered dirt bike while trying to pass a car, striking and injuring two pedestrians in the process.

Police say the unidentified man was rushed with severe body trauma to Saint Barnabas Medical Center in the Bronx Friday following the 3 p.m. accident.

They say the man operating the uninsured Yamaha dirt bike tried to pass on the driver’s side of a Toyota sedan as it was turning left. They say the two vehicles collided and the man was thrown from the bike, which continued traveling. That’s when it struck an 85-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man standing at an intersection.

Emergency workers transported the two to a hospital where they’re in stable condition.
