CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Senior Thomas Stanley nets his only points of the game from the line with 23.8 seconds remaining in overtime to lead Wheeling Central to a 59-57 win over Parkersburg Catholic in the Class A quarterfinals Thursday.
Senior Alonzo Manns eighth point of the game forced overtime as the buzzer-beater layup fell. Brian Campbell hit two free throws tying the game with 26 seconds left in overtime.
Chase Harler added 18 points and 8 rebounds for top-seeded Wheeling Central (23-3). Jake Ullman had 21 points for eighth-seeded Parkersburg Catholic (16-9).
Wheeling Central advances to Friday’s semifinal and awaits the winner of Clay-Battle and Great Beckley Christian.
Wheeling Central had back-to-back state titles in 2008-09.
