LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Police say a Louisville woman called police to check on her infant in the midst of a murder-suicide.
Lt. Todd Kessinger tells The Courier-Journal (https://cjky.it/1geFo1l) that 35-year-old Jacinta Malone fatally shot 37-year-old Deandre Starling on Tuesday evening, then called officers to the residence to take care of the couple’s 11-month-old son before shooting herself.
Kessinger says the child was unharmed in his crib.
He says the motive is under investigation, but witnesses at the scene told officers the relationship was ending.
Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Rita Taylor says Starling died of multiple gunshot wounds while Malone died of a single gunshot to the head. Both bodies were found in the living room.
In a statement, Malone’s father, Fred McDowell, says the family is heartbroken and focusing on the baby.
