EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Police in Evansville say crews disabled three homemade bombs found inside the home of a man who had threatened to kill an officer.
Evansville police say 48-year-old Franz Costello has been jailed without bond on charges including possession of a destructive device and possession of methamphetamine.
Bomb squad members reported finding two bombs on Wednesday in a bag next to Costello’s bed and another under a pillow. Police say the bombs were made from fireworks and gunpowder and packed with deck screws and lead shot, making them potentially deadly.
Police say a resident reported Costello had the bombs and was threatening to kill a police meth unit officer. Police say he was convicted last year on meth-related charges.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether Costello had an attorney.
