MACON, Ga. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say the owner of a waste hauling business has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for improperly storing hazardous waste.

Officials said in a release that 42-year-old Robert Lewis of Atlanta was sentenced by a federal judge in Macon on Thursday. Authorities say Lewis, owner of Simple Solutions Inc., transported hazardous waste from a local manufacturing plant to a disposal facility between May 2007 and April 2008.

Investigators found more than four dozen 55-gallon drums and more than a dozen 275-gallon containers of the waste material at a self-storage facility in Macon that Lewis was renting in late February of 2009.

Authorities say Lewis had also been storing additional waste materials, including cyanide, in Rex and in Albany.
