LAWTON, Okla. (AP) - A preliminary hearing has been delayed for a Lawton man charged in the death of his wife, who was found buried in his backyard.

David Baird was due in court Wednesday, but his preliminary hearing was pushed back to May 21. Baird is charged with first-degree murder, unlawful desecration of a dead body and other charges in the death of his wife, Claudine Marroquin.

Police say Marroquin died around Aug. 31. Investigators allege that Baird partially buried the body then covered it with a swimming pool liner and old tires in an attempt to hide the crime.

The Lawton Constitution reports (https://bit.ly/1geD3mW ) that Baird’s hearing was delayed because neither prosecutors nor defense attorneys had received a complete copy of Marroquin’s autopsy report.
