NEW YORK (AP) - Firefighters battled a 4-alarm fire inside a residential building in Manhattan.

Officials say the fire began in a construction area on the second floor of the building at 23 West 76th St. on the Upper West Side at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The fire quickly spread through the walls before it was brought under control.



There were no reports of injuries. .

The cause of the fire is unclear.
