BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - A D’Iberville man who admitted downloading child porn off the internet will spend the next 25 years in prison.
Thomas James Clayton Jr., 41, pleaded guilty Monday to exploitation of a child. He later came under investigation by D’Iberville police and the Gulf Coast Cyber Crime Task Force and investigators learned he had failed to register as a sex offender. He was arrested in July 2011.
“Investigators seized the defendant’s computer and numerous flash drives that contained child pornography. Following his arrest, Clayton provided a statement to law enforcement admitting that he had downloaded the movies from the internet,” said Assistant District Attorney Beth McFadyen.
Circuit Judge John Gargiulo sentenced Clayton to 40 years with 15 years suspended and 25 to years to serve without eligibility for early release. The judge also ordered five years of post-release supervision.
Clayton had been convicted of touching of a child for lustful purposes in Harrison County in 2003.
