RENO, Nev. (AP) - Washoe County sheriff’s deputies chased down a Reno man who tried to flee from the downtown courthouse after he was sentenced to more than two years in prison on gun and theft charges.

Sheriff’s spokesman Bob Harmon says 30-year-old Dustin Martin made a run for it on Tuesday moments after Washoe District Judge Connie Steinheimer had sentenced him for grand larceny of a gun and being a prohibited person in possession of a gun.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (https://tinyurl.com/nl9bppa) he was exiting a sheriff’s vehicle after being transferred across Sierra Street to the holding center at Reno Justice Court.

Harmon says Martin made it about 100 yards before deputies, U.S. marshals and others cornered him and he surrendered. He now faces an additional felony escape charge.
