ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) - An eastern Alabama man has been found guilty of kidnapping and raping a 4-year-old girl in 2013.

The Anniston Star reports (https://bit.ly/1eXdGRf ) 29-year-old Raleigh Steven Rowan was convicted Thursday and is scheduled to be sentenced on April 21.

Prosecutors say Rowan kidnapped the victim from her home, raped her and left her by herself in a Piedmont trailer park afterward. He was found guilty of rape, sodomy, kidnapping and sexual abuse of a child younger than 12.

District Attorney Jennifer Weems says she plans on asking the judge to impose the maximum sentence in this case, which is life in prison without parole. Rowan’s attorneys say they’ll file an appeal if their client chooses to do so.
