MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) - Officials in Muskogee are seeking the public’s help after thieves took eight batteries from school buses.
Muskogee Public Schools spokeswoman Wendy Burton says the theft occurred early Tuesday from a bus lot. Burton says each school bus has three batteries that weigh about 50 to 60 pounds apiece.
Burton tells the Muskogee Phoenix (https://bit.ly/1peGvxj ) that the culprits tried to steal an ninth battery but it was dropped on the ground and left behind.
Burton says damage is estimated at $1,300 to $1,500. She says the thieves cut a hole in a fence to access the buses and that police are reviewing surveillance video in search of suspects.
