RYEGATE, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say four people accused of breaking into a home and taking items tried to get away on foot after their vehicle got stuck in a snowbank.

Police said they found the four a short distance away from the home in Ryegate on Wednesday night. Police recovered about $4,000 worth of stolen property such as DVD players, a camera and binoculars, from the group.

Charged with burglary, grand larceny and possession of stolen property and unlawful mischief are 23-year-old Crystal Barney, 21-year-old Nelson Barney, 19-year-old Moriah Benway and 24-year-old Daniel Wilder. All are from Barre.

They’ve been jailed at the Northeast Regional Correctional Center in St. Johnsbury; it wasn’t immediately known if they had lawyers.
