SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A Sioux Falls teen who led police on a high-speed chase through a crowded fairgrounds parking lot before assaulting two officers has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Nineteen-year-old David Lund was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.
The Sioux Falls Argus Leader reports (https://argusne.ws/1lsVc2u) that Lund was pulled over on Oct. 25 for failure to use headlights and took off when he was approached by police.
When pulled over a second time following the chase, Lund punched a Highway Patrol trooper in the face and then attacked a Sioux Falls police officer who stepped in to help.
The officer suffered a broken nose and other injuries that left him with $7,000 in medical bills. Lund was ordered to pay the officer’s medical costs and lost wages.
