PERRY, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a train struck and killed a male pedestrian in the Shiawassee County community of Perry.

The sheriff’s department said Sunday that the incident happened Saturday morning and says no information was immediately available on the identity of the victim.

The Canadian National Railway Co. operates a freight line that runs through Perry.

CN spokeswoman Lindsay Fedchyshyn (FED’-uh-shin) in Concord, Ontario, said Sunday that one of its freight trains was westbound on the line when it struck a male pedestrian at a crossing in Perry about 1 a.m. She says the crossing’s gate, warning bells and flashing lights were working at the time.

Perry is about 20 miles east-northeast of Lansing.
