ST. ALBANS, Vt. (AP) - A lawyer for a Vermont man accused of shooting to death a woman during a road-rage dispute says he doesn’t believe the case will be ready for trial until the fall.
Thirty-year-old Matthew Webster of Swanton has pleaded not guilty to the September shooting death of 30-year-old Anna Alger of Highgate.
Webster allegedly ran a red light in St. Albans and was nearly struck by Alger’s car. Alger got out of her car and was yelling as she approached Webster.
A summer trial was the goal, but the St. Albans Messenger reports (https://bit.ly/1fZDiBb) defense attorney Steve Dunham says he is still working on preparing a defense and is preparing a motion to suppress evidence. He said he doesn’t believe the case will be ready for trial until September or October.
