CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - A suspect in the killing of a southeast Missouri tattoo artist has pleaded guilty to federal drug charges.
Brent Bouren of St. Louis entered a sealed plea agreement in Cape Girardeau on Monday on one count each of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and conspiracy to distribute cocaine. The Southeast Missourian (https://bit.ly/1j3cAuH ) reports sentencing is set for June 1.
The 43-year-old also is facing state charges of second-degree murder, armed criminal action, second-degree assault and felonious restraint in connection with the death of Samuel Francis, whose body was found last summer in a septic tank near Bonne Terre.
Francis’ remains were found a day after federal agents searched the property of Melvin Scherrer - who is charged with first-degree murder in Francis’ death - as part of the drug trafficking investigation.
