CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - A South Texas man faces up to life in prison and a possible $10 million fine for helping lead a drug ring with ties to Mexico.
A federal jury in Corpus Christi on Tuesday afternoon convicted 55-year-old Ricardo Guerrero of Mathis.
Guerrero was found guilty of conspiracy to commit drug trafficking, conspiracy to launder money and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Prosecutors say the methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine ring operated since 2009 and supplied drugs throughout South Texas, plus Houston and San Antonio.
Guerrero faces sentencing later this year. More than 20 co-conspirators who worked for Guerrero have pleaded guilty.
