RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Shipping company ZIM USA has added the Port of Richmond as a stop for its container service.
ZIM’s Americas, Canada and Caribbean-area president, Lea Bogatch-Genossar, says the company will use the inland port to serve furniture and finished product manufacturers from Asia.
Gogatch-Genossar says the port also will be used to serve regional refrigerated freight market and paper mill exports.
The port is located 95 miles inland on the James River.
James River Barge Line LLC operates container barges between the Port of Richmond, Norfolk International Terminals and APM Terminals in Portsmouth.
