WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) - West Valley City police say one man is in jail another person is in the hospital after an eviction turned violent.
Police say a stabbing was reported a little before 5 a.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex at 4000 South Redwood Road.
Detectives say an argument began when 27-year-old Peter Gatoro tried to evict his roommate. The fight escalated, and police say Gatoro stabbed the victim multiple times before pushing him out of the apartment, where he was found.
The victim underwent surgery and is expected to survive.
Gatoro was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and obstruction of justice.
