CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire’s House has rejected a bill that would have prohibited minors from using tanning booths as hazardous to their health.

The House voted 175-154 Wednesday to kill the bill and bar bringing it back this year. Current law prohibits anyone under age 18 from using the booths without a parent’s permission and youths under 14 must have a doctor’s order.

The bill’s supporters argued youth are more likely to suffer skin damage from using the booths.

But opponents said the state should leave it to parents to decide.
