FRYEBURG, Maine (AP) - Police in Fryeburg are looking for a man with rotten teeth and severe acne they say attacked and robbed the owner of a pet grooming business.

Police tell WMWV-FM that the suspect, carrying a pregnant dog, entered Creature Comforts at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and asked for help delivering the puppies.

The 46-year-old owner went to call a veterinarian.

At that point, the man said something about not wanting to go back to jail, and hit the woman with a statue. When she tried to defend herself with some shears, he grabbed them and stabbed her.

He took money from the victim’s purse and a donation jar and fled.

Police say the white man was about 5-foot-8.

The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.
