PORT ALLEN, La. (AP) - A judge has sentenced a Baton Rouge couple to life in prison after being found guilty of second-degree murder on Feb. 21 in the death of a West Baton Rouge Parish man.
The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1otjV5H) Shearman L. Wisham and Mary Douglas were sentenced Monday by Judge J. Robin Free.
Wisham and Douglas were arrested and jailed in March 2011 for fatally shooting 70-year-old Odis Roberts, and leaving him for dead alongside a road in West Baton Rouge Parish.
Roberts died six months later from wounds he sustained in October 2010. Douglas was dating Roberts at the time he was shot.
