DETROIT (AP) - Murder charges have been filed in two weekend deaths at Detroit stores that began with arguments and mushroomed into fatalities.
The Wayne County prosecutor’s office says that 33-year-old Demarco M. Broadus and 43-year-old Antoine R. Thomas killed 60-year-old Frederick J. Belk. Police say Belk was struck in the head with metal Saturday at a neighborhood grocery store.
Prosecutor’s spokeswoman Maria Miller said Wednesday morning that Broadus was arraigned Tuesday, while Thomas was awaiting a court appearance. Both face open murder charges.
It wasn’t immediately known if they have lawyers.
On Sunday, a 45-year-old Carl Bell died after a fight at a Detroit party store. Thirty-nine-year-old Reginald Sturgis and his 15-year-old son are charged with second-degree murder.
