CHICAGO (AP) - An ex-U.S. congressman who was removed from Kevin Trudeau’s sentencing hearing for interrupting a federal judge says he doesn’t regret trying to speak up on the TV pitchman’s behalf.
Ed Foreman says Tuesday that prosecutors were “throwing stones” at Trudeau and he wanted to mention some of Trudeau’s good deeds.
But the 80-year-old from Dallas never got the chance. After interrupting the judge Monday in Chicago, marshals grabbed him by the arms and legs and carried him out the door.
The same judge sentenced Trudeau to a 10-year prison term for bilking consumers through false infomercials.
Marshals issued Foreman a petty offense citation, which he says he’s too busy to fight. He says he’ll pay the $175 fine “and move on.”
Foreman represented his west Texas district in the 1960s.
