BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) - The Arizona Department of Corrections says a prison inmate is dead, the victim of an apparent homicide.

The department says 27-year-old Alexander Clark died Monday evening after being assaulted by fellow inmates at the Bachman medium-security unit of the Lewis prison complex in Buckeye.

The department says officers found Clark lying injured on the ground after the broke up what appeared to be a fight involving several inmates in the unit’s recreation yard.



The department says the inmates were in a group of approximately 20 inmates.

Clark entered prison in 2006 after being sentenced on Pima County convictions for burglary, robbery, armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault, and misconduct with weapons.
