OAK FOREST, Ill. (AP) - A longtime suburban Chicago police officer died after a crash in Oak Forest.

Police officials say 62-year-old James Morrissey died Monday night at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

WMAQ-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1g66WpC ) he was injured during a crash earlier in the day while heading to help another officer who was responding to a call.

Police chief Greg Anderson says Morrissey was a hard worker who’d spent three decades with the department. He was most recently the agency’s chief field training officer.

The crash remains under investigation. So far, no charges have been filed.
