APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. (AP) - Pinal County authorities say a wounded man was arrested following an exchange of gunfire between residents of an Apache Junction-area residence and three armed men trying to break into the home.

The Sheriff’s Office says one resident fired a shotgun through the back door which three men were trying to kick in. A second resident then also shot through the door after seeing laser sights pointed at his head from outside.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the men outside returned fire before running off.

The Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Sal Anthony Olmos of Mesa was found in a neighbor’s yard with non-life threatening shotgun wounds to his upper legs.

It says Olmos was arrested on suspicion of burglary and other charges. It’s not immediately known whether he has a lawyer.
