DETROIT (AP) - Authorities have charged a Detroit father and his 15-year-old son with second-degree murder in the beating death of a man inside a liquor store.
The Wayne County prosecutor’s office says 39-year-old Reginald Sturgis faces arraignment Wednesday. His son’s preliminary hearing is Saturday in the county’s juvenile detention center.
Authorities say the two punched 45-year-old Carl Bell in the face and body during an argument Sunday evening in the store’s checkout line. Bell didn’t have identification with him and was identified through fingerprints.
The prosecutor’s office says Sturgis doesn’t have a lawyer.
Police also are investigating Saturday’s slaying of an unidentified man who was chased into a market and beaten in the head with a metal dolly.
Police say they arrested a 33-year-old man and are seeking three other men.
