JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - The House Finance Committee will take up a bill concerning the licensing of junk dealers and a bill assisting the legislature in identifying lost revenue before taking up Gov. Parnell’s education bill in the evening.

Sponsored by Rep. Steve Thompson, a Republican from Fairbanks, House Bill 306 is to provide a mechanism to identify indirect expenditures.

A Legislative Research report shows that over the last five years the state has forgone $500 million through indirect spending across all state departments.



House Bill 305, sponsored by Speaker Mike Chenault, clarifies who licenses junk dealers in the state of Alaska taking the responsibility away from the Department of Revenue.
