HAZEL GREEN, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a dog that was dragged on the pavement while chained to the back of a pickup truck is recovering at an animal hospital.
Madison County sheriff’s investigators say it happened on Charity Lane over the weekend.
Callers to the sheriff’s office reported seeing a dog, chained to the back of a truck, being dragged down the road.
Authorities have said it is possible this was a terrible accident, but they’re still investigating to try and determine how it happened.
Sgt. Brian Chaffin and a veterinarian told WAFF-TV Monday night (https://bit.ly/OscXBn) that the dog sustained many superficial wounds and had no broken bones. Veterinarian Connor Sindel said the animal is expected to completely recover.
