FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - Lauderdale County school officials say they’re planning to offer a pre-engineering program beginning next school year.

The TimesDaily of Florence (https://bit.ly/1mdLS2M ) reported Monday that the courses will be offered at the Allen Thornton Career Technical Center as part of Project Lead The Way. Project lead the way is a national nonprofit that delivers programs specializing in in-demand subject areas - such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics - to local school systems.

Allen Thornton Director Kelly Joiner says the courses are unlike anything else being offered in the school system and are expected to give students an advantage in college and career readiness.
