EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan State’s Adreian Payne is glad he returned for his senior season for at least a few reasons.
The decision set him up to be the first from his family to graduate from college.
It gave him another chance to reach the Final Four.
And, delaying his NBA dreams allowed him to spend more time with 8-year-old Lacey Holsworth. The cancer-stricken girl quickly befriended Payne when she met him at a hospital two years ago.
Payne carried Holsworth around during his Senior Night ceremony two weeks ago. He scooped her up again on Sunday, taking her toward the top of a ladder as the Spartans celebrated winning the Big Ten tournament.
