CLARENCE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have ruled accidental a fire that left a man dead and a woman injured in suburban Buffalo.

State police say Monday that the Sunday evening fire started after a stove was left unattended in the kitchen of a Clarence Center home.

Troopers say 45-year-old Charles Deppa was pronounced dead at the scene and 41-year-old Denise Hackrott is hospitalized in critical condition.

Deppa’s body was found on the living room floor. Hackrott was unconscious in a bedroom.
