ROME, N.Y. (AP) - A 38-year-old man has died in a snowmobile accident in central New York.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office tells local media outlets that Michael Hrim of Rome was riding on a snowmobile trail in Rome when he went off the trail and over a snowbank before hitting a fence and trees around12:45 a.m. Saturday.

Hrim was treated by paramedics and taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.



Deputies say it appears excessive speed was a factor in the accident.
