HONOLULU (AP) - Warning signs were posted at a beach in the Waikiki neighborhood Saturday after a diver said he spotted an 8-foot aggressive Galapagos shark.

The Honolulu Star Advertiser reports (https://bit.ly/1fAilIk) that the diver said he saw the shark off Kaimana Beach about 1 p.m., but the beach remained open.

The diver, who had a line of fish, said the shark went toward him. He was about 250 yards off shore, the newspaper reports.

Lifeguards patrolled the area with rescue skis and warned beachgoers.

The Galapagos shark likes to swim in reefs around islands, experts say.
