PHOENIX (AP) - Maricopa County animal officials say a Phoenix woman has died after she was mauled while feeding her daughter’s pit bull.

The Arizona Republic reports (https://bit.ly/1guooTi) that the woman was mauled Friday around 8 p.m.

Melissa Gable, spokeswoman for Maricopa County Animal Care and Control, says the woman died at the hospital.

Gable says the woman’s daughter surrendered the pit bull to animal control and asked that it be euthanized.

According to Gable, the dog was later put down.

Phoenix police spokesman Steve Martos says authorities are still trying to determine if the woman died because of the mauling or a separate medical condition.
