NEW YORK (AP) - Surveillance video from security cameras mounted across the street from a deadly New York City gas explosion that killed eight people shows the moment the blast happened.
The video obtained by WCBS-NY (https://cbsloc.al/1d5Ngw4 ) captured glass shattering and debris raining down on the street in front of the two buildings that collapsed in the blast.
The footage also reveals a cloud of thick, black smoke pouring across the street a few moments after the explosion. A man on the street ducks and tries to protect himself as debris falls around him.
Emergency workers are still removing debris from the site in Harlem. The rescue operation is continuing in case unknown people are buried beneath the rubble.
More than 60 people were injured in the explosion on Wednesday.
