OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) - An Oregon woman who brought her 3-year-old son along to her husband’s drug deal avoided a jail sentence after pleading guilty to child neglect and endangering the welfare of a minor.
A Clackamas County judge sentenced 28-year-old Lesya Shevyakov on Friday to three years on probation and 96 hours of community service.
The Oregonian reports (https://is.gd/rhbg9I ) she was arrested after her husband, Vitaly Fedorvich Shevyakov, sold heroin to an undercover informant last year. He will be sentenced May 16 after pleading guilty to child neglect and endangerment charges as well as possession and distribution of heroin.
Defense attorney Arthur Knauss said his client had tried to get her husband to stop using drugs.
