TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (AP) - More details have emerged surrounding the arrest of the mayor of Kincaid in central Illinois.

Douglas Thomas was arrested Thursday on suspicion of violating an order of protection for the second time in recent weeks.

The (Springfield) State Journal-Register reports (https://bit.ly/1gndiLx ) the person who requested the order is an 18-year-old ex-boyfriend of the mayor.

According to Christian County Court documents, the ex-boyfriend accused Thomas of trying to hit him with his car. Based on the claim, the protection order was granted Feb. 10.

Thomas is accused of violating the order by trying to contact the teen. He posted bond and was released Friday. He couldn’t be reached for comment; a phone listing for Thomas was disconnected.

Claiming the teen called him, Thomas also sought a protection order but was denied.
