PEORIA, Ill. (AP) - Lane Davis scored 17 points as Mendon Unity rolled past Sesser-Valier 59-43 for third place in the Class 1A IHSA boys basketball state finals. Alex Blickhan added 13 points and seven steals, and Will Klusmeyer chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds for the Mustangs (21-12).
The Red Devils got 10 points from Nick Marlo and 10 from Jordan Gunter but finished with 24 turnovers and shot less than 30 percent for Saturday’s game, including making just four of 21 shots from beyond the arc.
Unity didn’t shoot much better, making 32.8 percent of its shots. But they out-rebounded Sesser 48-33.
Unity stole its way to a 31-10 lead in the first half, creating 10 turnovers through an active defense and soft passes by Sesser-Valier (22-12).
