BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The number of bighorn sheep, elk and moose hunting licenses available in North Dakota this year will be almost the same as last year, but they will cost a bit more.
The Game and Fish Department says North Dakota is making five sheep licenses available this year, one more than last year. The 261 elk licenses and 111 moose licenses are the same as last year.
The application fee for moose, elk and bighorn sheep has increased from $3 to $5 for each species, as part of a license fee increase bill passed by the 2013 Legislature. For hunters who draw a license, the fee has increased from $20 to $30. The deadline to apply is March 26.
Bighorn sheep, moose and elk licenses are once-in-a-lifetime licenses in North Dakota.
