PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Jessica Gertz and Cierra Walker each scored 17 points and Oregon City defeated Westview 70-52 on Friday in the semifinals of the OSAA Class 6A girls tournament.

The second-seeded Pioneers (21-6) advance to play South Medford in Saturday night’s championship game at the Moda Center.

Top-seeded South Medford downed Beaverton 45-40 in the earlier semifinal.

Oregon City led from the start despite the best efforts of Westview’s Jaime Nared, the Tennessee-bound senior who had 23 points and 15 rebounds.

Dana Bentz added 12 points for the Wildcats (22-6).

Cierra Walker made three of four 3-point attempts and Oregon City made nine total 3s, stretching the lead to as many as 23 points in the second half.

The Panthers, who are riding a 15-game winning streak, are playing in the state finals for the third year in a row. South Medford won the 6A title in 2012.

Bolston, who has committed to Washington State, also had four assists despite battling the flu. Julissa Tago had 15 points for the Panthers.

Danielle Hartzog had 11 points and Alyssa Christiansen added 10 for the Beavers (21-6), who closed to within 40-43 with 1:18 to go on Hartzog’s free throws. But it was as close as they could get.
