FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - Farmington police say a federal Marshals Service deputy shot a 26-year-old man during a confrontation after a chase and a crash but that it’s not yet known how the man died.
Police say that’s because 26-year-old John Marszalek II was shot as he was stabbing himself in the throat after his vehicle continued to ram a Farmington police car. Officers had already used a stun gun on Marszalek before the unidentified deputy marshal shot him.
According to The Daily Times (https://bit.ly/1nXj7G3), police Lt. Taft Tracy says an autopsy’s findings may shed light on the cause of death.
Marszalek was the subject of two police chases Wednesday before the second one led to the the collision and confrontation in which he was killed.
