SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) - Alexys Swedlund scored 20 points and Ciara Duffy added 15 as St. Thomas More beat Sioux Valley 66-34 Friday in the semifinals of the South Dakota Class A girls basketball tournament.

Swedlund was 7-for-14 from the field, grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists for the Cavaliers. Duffy was 6-for-9 and hauled down seven rebounds.

St. Thomas More (22-1), which last won the state championship in 2012, gave up just 10 first-half points and took a 27-10 lead into half.



Madison Kirsch had two of her team’s five 3-pointers and 12 points.

Kaylee Granum had three 3-pointers and 11 points for the Cossacks (20-4).
